The Food Academy: Look back and move on!

Wow! The first season of The Food Academy is already over. It’s been such a pleasure to share all this valuable information with you. It’s exactly these fundamentals that I teach my clients too, to get a better grip on their health and personal wellbeing. I’m thrilled to move on because there is more to come, but first, let’s just get a quick recap of what we learned during that first season. ‍

The Four Elements In season 1, it was all about building the fundamentals and providing you with the right tools to continue that lifelong lasting journey in the best way possible: your health journey.  The Four Elements form the foundation from which one can pursue his personal journey.

  • Rhythm forms the foundation. Getting the right structure into your daily life allows you to spend time on all the things that matter and prevents you from continuously lagging behind.
  • Movement  is all about getting your steps in. Consistency over intensity. Six thousand steps daily to start with should do a good job in the long run!
  • Food  matters on the nutrient, taste and social side. One thing's for sure, food is much more than the sum of its nutrients. Think delicious and nutritious!
  • Rest is needed to recover, process and grow. If you keep chasing goals without taking a deep breath every once in a while, you’ll probably end up chasing nothing, because you end up making the same mistakes again and again. Trust me, no matter how motivated and how much of a hard worker you are: too much of a good thing can end in a bad thing. So take your rest.

Mastering the basics can take a lifetime and even for me, it is challenging sometimes. And so it’s very important to try to not get frustrated, yet instead try to enjoy every step of that health journey you’re on: cook delicious meals, find a form of movement that matches with you (not the other way around), and instead of thinking that sleep is just a waste of time, don’t feel guilty to have some extra. You probably need it anyway! In other words: don’t forget to live your life!

Health equals freedom

It’s a common misconception that when pursuing a healthy lifestyle one has to live according to a very tight and restrictive schedule. But nothing could be further from the truth. In the end, being in control of your own health is about pursuing deeper values like freedom and happiness.

Season 2 is coming

And I got good news for you because a new season is coming to you! During the second season of The Food Academy, we’ll gradually hand over more tools to regain your freedom. This time we’ll dive deeper into the world of nutrients and calories and it will get a bit more scientific. But hey: who told you that science is only for scientists? Don’t worry, I will guide you through. Step by step.
